When is the deadline for submitting applications?
The online application and all supplemental materials are due February 15, 2026.
I missed the deadline. Can I still apply?
No applications will be accepted after the deadline.
Is there a fee to apply?
No.
I am a home-schooled student. Can I apply?
Yes.
Is there an age limit?
Yes. You must be a graduating high school senior and no older than 20 years of age as of August 1, 2026.
I received a General Education Diploma (GED). Can I apply?
Yes. If you are no older than 20 years of age.
I am currently in college. Can I apply?
No.
Is there a minimum SAT or ACT score requirement?
No.
Is there a minimum grade point average requirement?
Yes. All high school applicants must have and maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. All college applicants must have a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
Do I have to be a United States citizen to apply for a scholarship?
Applicants are required to be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident (in possession of a Permanent Resident Card) in the process of becoming a U.S. citizen.
Who can apply?
The Coach Cornelia A. Jackson Foundation Scholarship is limited to applicants that attend Jeff Davis High School (Hazlehurst, GA) and Swainsboro High School (Swainsboro, GA). Continue to follow our social media pages for special announcements. As more funding become available, more students will be invited to apply.
Can I use the Coach Cornelia A. Jackson Foundation Scholarship at any college and for any major?
All scholarships may be used at an educational institution that normally maintains a regular faculty and curriculum, that normally has a regularly organized body of students in attendance, and that is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as being accredited by recognized accrediting agencies. All scholarship recipients may pursue any major of their choice leading to a bachelor’s degree. If the educational institution is a technical college, you do not have to be a degree-seeking candidate.
Is the Coach Cornelia A. Jackson Foundation Scholarship a renewable award and what is the amount of the award?
No.
If I am awarded a Coach Cornelia A. Jackson Foundation Scholarship, how do I receive my scholarship funds?
You will be contacted by the Coach Cornelia A. Jackson Foundation with scholarship award details.
Do I have restrictions on how to spend my scholarship funds?
Yes. Scholarship funds may only be used for tuition and fees, books, supplies and equipment, room and board, and travel or research that are incidental to the purposes of this scholarship.
If I am awarded other scholarships or financial aid, does it affect my eligibility for a Coach Cornelia A. Jackson Foundation Scholarship?
No. You are still eligible; however, the amount awarded may be adjusted. The only other exception is if you receive a scholarship that covers all of your expenses. We would ask that you notify the Foundation so that we may re-award the scholarship funds.
When are the winners notified? Are all applicants notified?
Awardees are notified personally, by phone at the end of April. All other applicants are notified by email.
Where does funding for the Coach Cornelia A. Jackson Foundation Scholarship come from?
Fundraising Events, Individual Contributions, and Sponsorships.
